MY HEART WILL GO ON - Heart Preservation Workshop
A wet specimen class with A Curious Invitation
Saturday 10th October from 3:30 pm

The art of a fluid-preserved specimen can be traced back to the 17th century and continues to be prevalent in natural history and pathology museums around the world today. This four hour workshop at the Dissenters' Chapel, Kensal Green will provide detailed instructions in the methods employed to preserve wet specimens. Each student will be guided through the step-by-step process of anatomical preservation as they learn to conserve an animal heart.

The workshop will begin with a talk on the history of the wet specimen focusing on the extensive collections in Natural History museums and the trials curators face in ensuring the longevity of specimens over 200 years old.

This is a beginners' course with no experience required and you will leave with your own wet specimen preserved in a museum quality glass jar.
