A Curious Invitation present London Month of the Dead
MONUMENTS BY MOONLIGHT
An Evening Torch-lit Walk and Storytelling in West Norwood Cemetery with Caroline Swan and Giles Abbott on Friday 4th October 2024 at 7:00 pm

Once revered as a sanctuary for the departed and the living alike, West Norwood emerged from the depths of Victorian London in 1837. With an air of aristocratic reverence, it swiftly earned its place among the illustrious Magnificent Seven cemeteries, becoming a haven where souls sought solace beneath the watchful gaze of towering monuments.

The cemetery is the last resting place of, among others, Mrs Beeton, author of the seminal manual on household management, Paul Julius Reuter, founder of the eponymous news agency, Henry Tate, the art gallery patron, and Thomas Letts, who popularised the diary.

Join Robert Stephenson for a torch-lit evening walk through the cemetery's most cherished and surprising monuments, which will lead you to the newly-restored St Stephen’s chapel, where you can chill by candle-light to eerie stories of the supernatural told by Giles Abbott.

Tickets £20 including a 20% donation toward a host of restoration projects at West Norwood Cemetery
