A GREAT GARDEN OF SLEEP A Guided Tour of Brompton Cemetery and visit to the catacombs with Robert Stephenson on Sunday 8th October 2023 at 11:00 am and 2:30 pm London historian, folklorist and gravestone expert ROBERT STEPHENSON will lead a special tour to meet the famous and infamous residents of one of the country's finest gardens of eternal rest. Following a Sunday stroll along colonnades modelled on St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, you will have the chance to inspect the mysterious Egyptian Courtoy Mausoleum, built by the eccentric Victorian inventor, Sam Warner (which is rumoured to house a time machine) and visit the grave of Keats’s muse Fanny Brawne, suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst and John Wisden, founder of the eponymous cricketing almanack, as you wander amongst the 35,000 burial plots.
