CITY OF SIN
Crime and Punishment in the City of London with Katie Wignall
Saturday 3rd October 2020 at 2:30 pm

Explore the City of London's macabre side on this special walking tour for the Month of the Dead.

On this 90 minute walk we'll explore the narrow alleyways and hidden corners of the City, hearing tales of crime and its - often gruesome - punishment. Navigating the historic heart of London could be perilous and on this tour we will encounter the criminals and religious fanatics that were best avoided in centuries past.

You'll see the remnants of prisons like Newgate and Bridewell, hearing stories of the unfortunate men and women who found themselves in damp, fetid cells. We'll also discover the darker side of medical London, meeting notorious grave-robbers and quack-doctors. Amidst all these morbid tales though, there's also stories of heroic bravery and impressive quick-thinking to lighten the mood!

Start - Blackfriars Tube Station
End - Smithfield
Duration - 90mins

Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases, this tour has now been cancelled. We are currently working on a digita audio guide to replace the group tours.
